2005 Reserve Pinot Noir, Russian River Valley
Pinot Noir - Reserve - Russian River ValleyLongtime Esterlina Wine Club members know that we do not designate a wine as a "Reserve" without good reason. Our 2005 Reserve Pinot Noir is beautiful. It starts with a gorgeous nose, full of ripe red fruit, floral and earthy mineral aromas. The mouth is about ripe red cherries and berries, with good acidity and a long finish. Pinot lovers will enjoy this wine. After the wine club shipment, there will only be about 100 cases left, so...

2006 Pinot Noir (Anderson Valley, Esterlina Estate)
Mario's Gran Roja - Sonoma WineThe 2006 Estate Pinot Noir is among the best vintages of wine we’ve made from this excellent vineyard—it’s gorgeous stuff. It starts with lots of cherry, raspberry and sweet vanilla-oak aromas. The mouth has those typical red fruit flavors, like ripe raspberries, cranberries and cherries, with spice on the long finish. Big and, as always, balanced. If you like Pinot Noir, you should enjoy this one. $45/bottle ($36 Wine Club) 870 cases produced

2005 Mario’s Gran Roja (Sonoma County)
Mario's Gran Roja - Sonoma Wine Our father is always asking us to make a “big, chewy, full-bodied red.” This wine is made and named for him. We took our Alexander Valley Cab, our Cole Ranch Merlot, some Syrah from our new Everett Ridge property, and added a tincture of Bacigalupi Petite Sirah. We arrived at a very good bottle of wine. And we priced the wine to make it a terrific value. The Gran Roja (Spanish for “Big Red”) begins with ripe blackberry, plum and oak scents. The mouth has wonderful flavors of juicy dark cherry, plum and spice, with medium tannins. The finish is long and spicy. While it will pair well with the fare that accompanies a traditional Bordeaux wine, Gran Roja is terrific by itself. 498 cases.

2004 (Alexander Valley, Esterlina Lazy S Vineyard) Cabernet Sauvignon
Cabernet Sauvignon - Alexander Valley - Lazy S Vineyard 2004 was a very strong vintage in all of the appellations we grow fruit in. Our Lazy S Vineyard, in the Alexander Valley, yielded some of the best Cabernet Sauvignon we have seen from that property. The cherry, nut and toasted oak aromas are enticing. The mouth has wonderful flavors of juicy dark cherry, black currant, plum and spice, with firm, drying tannins. The finish is long and spicy. Easily the finest Cabernet Sauvignon we have ever released, this one will age very nicely.

2005 Esterlina Syrah Sonoma Mountain(Janian Vineyard)
Syrah - Sonoma - JanianThe third vintage of wine we have released from this vineyard, it is a classic, cool weather Syrah--think northern Rhone, rather than California. It starts with plum, blueberry and smoky, cigar box aromas. The mouth has wonderful flavors of ripe dark berries and pepper, with silky tannins and good acidity. The finish is great, too. Enjoy.

2004 Russian River Valley (Bacigalupi Vineyard) Zinfandel
Zinfandel - Russian River - BacigalupiThis is the third Zinfandel we've made from the Bacigalupi Vineyard, and, as usual we are very happy with it. This wine starts with rich aromas of plum, coffee, and chocolate, with an underlying hint of baking spice. The mouth is elegant and balanced, with plenty of ripe plum, blackberry, cocoa and vanilla-oak flavors. Enjoy. 780 cases

2005 Cole Ranch Merlot
Merlot - Cole Ranch2005 Merlot (Cole Ranch) Occasionally, we get questions as to why we continue to make Merlot. Cole Ranch Merlot is quite unique from typical California Merlots because of the climate. The cool weather there makes the wine very Bordeaux-like. To us, that means a complex, medium-bodied wine, with light cherry and earthy-smoky flavors. Should age very well, certainly in the 7-10 year range. 985 cases produced.

2005 Cole Ranch Merlot - NEW SOON!

2004 Cole Ranch Merlot
Merlot - Cole RanchAll the wines we made from the 2004 vintage are extraordinary. The color is gorgeous—a rich garnet. There are lots of black fruit aromas, with plum, clove and a bit of smoky oak, too. The flavors are ripe, rich and complex, with black cherry, blackberry, and cocoa. With firm tannins, good acidity, and a lingering finish, this wine will appeal to most red wine lovers. We produced 923 cases of this gem. Try it with lamb, prime rib, and beef short ribs.
